The game console is then stripped for cleaning and general refurbishment work undertaken. This consists primarily of testing the console, then re-capping and replacing the voltage regulator with an upgraded unit. The original modulator and TV lead are also removed ready for the installation of a composite video amplifier.

Using a Video Amplifier in place of the original RF modulator enables the Atari 2600 to output a composite video and audio signal to suit TVs with composite inputs (usually 3 x Phono Sockets – Yellow, Red, White). This modification costs £xx including return shipping (UK Only) and all removed components are returned so the Atari could be put back to original specification at a later date if required. For TVs without suitable Phono connectors, but which have a suitable SCART socket, an adapter can be supplied for an extra £x.

Please note that these modifications will not improve the resolution of the picture but they should give a clearer picture with better colour on most TVs
